Learn About Me in Pensacola

I decided to post a page on my Pensacola site about me. If you are interested you can read on and take a look at these pictures. I've put only the pictures about me I thought might be in line with this website's theme.

My family,I'm front left, wife behind me, great nephew at my side, mom, sis behind her, sis's son behind her, finally my brother

In the above picture, my immediate family. In back left, my wife Lanora, my brother Terry, my nephew Tommy, lower right, my mother Burnell, my sister Nyoka, great nephew Tommy Jr., and me at a family reunion in 2010.

I was born in the Florida panhandle about 80 miles east of Pensacola and have spent most of my life working construction projects in the southeast. Presently I am a Safety Director on the sites where I work. Pensacola is such a great place to live and play I don't think I'll ever leave here, this is where I'll retire. My wife is from Massachusettes and she loves it here also. The pictures here show some of the things I am interested in.

About me and mom in my boat.

In this picture I took my mother for a boat ride in Blackwater River. She said she had always wanted to ride a boat so she did. Afterwards she said that it was a good ride and her boat riding was satisfied.

About me golfing.

This is one of many days of golfing with my friends, Harry I think. I must have been doing good 'cause I waved for my picture. I've been playing for about 20 years. I started while working a job in Georgia in 1989.

About me and the Jack Cravelle.

Two of my friends and I went fishing in the Gulf of Mexico south of Pensacola. It was a nice day weather wise. We had been trolling Ballyhoo behind the boat out of Pensacola when we saw a shrimp boat anchored. The crews will drag for shrimp for a period of time, pull the nets and pick out the shrimp. Sometimes they will catch a nap after they finish. When they are anchored and picking shrimp, all the discarded fish, crabs, and such are thrown overboard. We caught that Jack Cravelle while trolling under an anchored shrimp boat.

My Wife at the Beach

I found this photo of my wife at the beach. I don't recall which stretch of beach it is but it looks to be a quiet one. This was taken back when she was able to get around. If you too would like a nice secluded beach then I would suggest going to Perdido Key State Park for a day alone.

About me and a wahoo.

One day I took my neighbor and his wife fishing in the gulf. We were out there quite a while but weren't doing very well that day. Sometime around 3pm we hooked into this wahoo. It put up a really good fight and also was good at the table. My favorite way to cook this is to steak it out, about two inches thick, place it in a baking pan, put in all the trimmings, cover and bake. But, this page is all about me.

About me at a music jam.

One of my other interests is Bluegrass Music. In this last photo I am playing my banjo at a jam session in Hiram, Georgia where I was working. I also play guitar, dobro, and mandolin. I enjoy this hobby very much. I try to find places to play where ever my job takes me. AS I said earlier, Pensacola is a nice place to live.

Drop me an email sometime and tell me what's on your mind. hullware@aol.com Put "RE: my thoughts" in subject line.

Pensacola, FL: Don’t miss the boat! Plaza de Luna Park at Palafox Pier is the place to be on March 10-11, 2012, The City of Pensacola will host the 1st annual Maritime Festival. The festival will celebrate Pensacola’s maritime history, past, present and future.

Check out the nautical themed entertainment, live music, tall ships and vessel tours, vendors, kid’s events, treasure hunt, pirates and reenactments and a boat load full of family fun suitable for all ages and tourists.

The barquentine rig Peacemaker has plans to be in port during the festival offering guided tours for donations. The Peacemaker, first launched in 1989 as the Avany, was built on a riverbank in southern Brazil using traditional methods and the finest tropical hardwoods. The ship is now a seagoing representation of the life of peace and unity that the twelve tribes are living on land in many communities around the world. She provides apprenticeship opportunities for youth to learn many valuable and practical skills, not only in rigging, sail-making, sailing, navigation, marine mechanics and carpentry, but also in living and working together in tight quarters, as well as many cross-cultural experiences traveling from port to port.

Plaza de Luna Park, named after Don Tristan de Luna, the Spanish explorer who established Pensacola in 1559, is easily accessible with plenty of convenient no-pay parking nearby and beautiful views of Pensacola Bay.

Out of town guests staying at Pensacola Hotels are advised to arrive early. Guests can make the most of all that the city has to offer with the nearby local shops and historic attractions. More information on guest accommodations can be found at www.VisitPensacola.com.
