In Pensacola, Farmers Opry Features Great Music and Food
In Pensacola, famous singers are regularly featured at the Farmers Opry. Among these are Gene
Watson, Billy Joe Royal, Ronnie McDowell, and others. Also appearing are some famous performers
renowned for their abilities, such as Doug Jernigan, one of the world's fastest steel guitarists.
The White Sands Music Festival comes along in early spring and features some very fine bluegrass. Held rain or shine, there is free parking and snacks are served. Jam sessions are present
in the parking lots, my favorite thing to do. Pets on leash are welcome, so bring a chair, sit
under the tent, and be prepared to be entertained.
The Sawmill Band performs every Friday and Saturday beginning at 7pm and ending at 9pm. If you
like, you can arrive early and sample the table fare. Dinner is served from 4:30pm 'til 7pm. Here
is a small taste of their menu: Fried chicken, Hamburger steak, Mashed potatoes and Gravy, Baby limas,
Cole slaw, Hush Puppies, Rolls, Desert.
Yum yum, I'll bet they even serve up biscuits and gravy. Just think, a fine emal with friends and then an evening of great music. Wow!
