The Pensacola Carrier Oriskany was sank as an artificial reef. Recreation and diving here can be enjoyed by all.

The USS Oriskany is a Ticonderoga class carrier weighing in at 27,100 tons. Commissioned in September 1950 it was first deployed in the Mediterranean Sea and later joined the Pacific Fleet. She took part in the Korean War from September 1952 to May 1953. She also joined the Vietnam War in 1965.

The ship was sank in 2006 south of Pensacola in the Gulf of Mexico. The island is at 70', the flight deck is 130' down, the hanger deck is 150', and the bottom is at 212 feet. If you want to dive this site be sure you plan your dive and alot proper time down at the depth you wish.
