T.T. Wentworth Museum in old city hall.

I recently visited the T.T. Wentworth Museum whose attractions are great. It is in the old City Hall building located downtown. There are three floors in Wentworth's museum with each floor dedicated to a select topic. I,ll cover those here and include a few pictures for you to enjoy.

The building, built in the early 1900s, was once City Hall. It has three floors of displays plus it has an elevator to help with access to the displays. There is an information desk at the front door where the attendant was very helpful answering questions.

Wentworth Museum display of Indians and Spaniards

Floor One displays Pensacola's history from the time when Native Americans were here through the Civil War. The Native Americans were here long before the Europeans arrived. There is a History and Archaeology display I found interesting. At the end of the hall I found two rooms interesting, one has the British soldier display, the other is the American soldier display.

The first floor displays I saw were; Dedication Gallery, US Postal Service, City of Five Flags Exhibit, De Luna Shipwreck, Pensacola Through the British Period, Pensacola to The Civil War. Wentworth Museum Doll Houses

Floor Two is the revolving exhibits floor. These change on a regular basis. The exhibits I saw were; Cabinet of Curiosities, Hoops to Hips, Black Ink (a Black History exhibit), and Doll House. You can ask the attendant at the front desk for an Interactive Doll House Book Bag. Wentworth Museum Fort on Third Floor.

I found the third floor to very interesting. It is a children's hands on learning gallery for pre-school through second grade. Life in Colonial Pensacola is the theme here. It is called La Frontera de Pensacola. Included is an old fort, a wooden ship, covered chickees, a trading post, and a good time.

I can't post all my pictures so I will select the best for you to see. This is good place to visit while you are in Pensacola. For more info you can call 850.595.5993. The museum is on Jefferson Street on the east side of Plaza Ferdinand Park.
